MIME ARTIST
ACT FIRST PERFORMED ON 2003 WORLD TOUR
Thursday 25th September 2003 at 8:30pm

Mime artist - GERMANY

Performed and conceived
by Joseph Michael Kreutzer

Mime is generally considered by the public to be an art form which, while undeniably pleasant and graceful, does not attempt to disturb or challenge the spectator.

JOMI attacks this prejudice: for him, the mission of mime, which can be universally understood, is to tackle social issues.

This is why in his repertoire JOMI combines humorous scenes (humour has an important place in his life) with political, social and religious themes.

JOMI's artistic skill results not only in the extreme precision of his representation of characters, but also in the fact that he gives each one a soul, and it is this "animation" which always succeeds in fascinating his audiences.

JOMI was born in 1952 in Bous (Saarland, Germany) and studied with Marcel Marceau in Paris where he obtained his diploma, having successfully completely his studies (the only German to have achieved this). He has worked since 1981 as a solo mime artist.

In 1997, JOMI, who has been deaf from a very early age, joined the Executive Committee of EUCREA, the European Association for the Creativity of Disabled Artists.

His success in the course of his tours throughout Europe, North Africa and South America is a fitting reward for this well-regarded and highly popular artist who practices his craft with persistence, dedication, sincerity and optimism.

From the press :

« One of life's rare and beautiful moments. » Républicain Lorraine.

« Words do not exist to describe JOMI's mime. » Cruzeiro do Sul, Brazil.

« Even the audience's standing ovations were not enough to fully communicate our appreciation of the expressive quality and precise forms of his act. » Excelsior, Mexico.

« What is impressive in JOMI's style is his lightness of touch, the musicality of his gestures... everything in his act is language. ». Rhein Necktar Zeitung.

« ... and long after the minutes of applause, the audience remained fascinated by JOMI's subtle social critiques, which went straight to their hearts. » Leonberger Zeitung.
