Formed in Roubaix in 1981, the Oiseau Mouche company works with actors affected by mental disabilities.
Its stated aims are those of theatrical research and continual improvement. The 23 actors take part in workshops led by directors, choreographers and visual artists seeking to inspire and be inspired. With this outlook of exchange and exploration, a new director is welcomed for each production.
The Company has thus far staged 24 productions with 15 different directors. Since November 2001, it has had a permanent base: the Oiseau-Mouche Garage Theatre. In this space, dialogue and openness between the artistic and human worlds are vital. The Oiseau-Mouche Company has made a name for itself in professional and public spheres in France and world-wide, where it has given more than 900 performances.
