The company was founded in 1991 with the goal of providing a professional environment within which disabled and non-disabled dancers could work together. Candoco has created a programme of integrated dance teaching which involves 6000 people across the world each year. The company combines theatre, dance and choreography for people with physical and/or sensory disabilities. Candoco has extensive stage experience and has already produced ten shows. The company offers workshops for professional dancers as well as for future dance teachers, and is renowned for the abundant humour of its choreography. Its productions have been performed in more than fifty countries and are highly acclaimed. Candoco has just been nominated for the Critics' Circle award for dance for its exceptional contemporary repertoire.
