OVERHEARD AT THE BAR

RETURNS FOR THREE SPECIAL PERFORMANCES

Thursday 7th, Friday 8th and Saturday 9th October at 8:45pm

Theatre - FRANCE

Performed by
EURYDICE CENTRE D'AIDE PAR LE THEATRE

Directed Michel Reynaud

This piece was hugely successful at the first Orphée festival.

"For several years, Jean-Marie GOURIO has been collecting phrases, thoughts and remarks overheard in cafés which he has published. Together with Jean-Michel RIBES, he has brought these texts, many of which dazzle with irresistible poetic and comic qualities, from the bar and the bistro to the stage. Gourio and Ribes have allowed me to create a new theatrical adaptation for the Eurydice actors because this piece represents a fantastic project for them."Michel REYNAUD.

Eurydice is a centre aiming to provide disabled people with the opportunity to work within the world of theatre, hence its title of 'Centre d'Aide par le Théâtre.' It was founded in 1986 by Michel Reynaud, an author, director, and drama teacher but most importantly a youth worker, a fact which explains his decision to devote the greater part of his artistic career to people with disabilities.

As well as an actors' studio from which the troupe is drawn, with the objective of putting together and performing shows in France and abroad, Eurydice incorporates three workshops for the production of costumes and scenery, and for sound production.

To date, Eurydice has staged sixteen successful shows performed in France and abroad. But apart from the actual activities of production in its workshops and of staging shows, it is involved in a variety of projects, which emphasise the diversity of experiences the disabled actors it employs can become involved in, i.e. continual encounters with the environment and the audience as well as with the media, the organisation of advertising, shows and broadcasting, and collaboration with professional theatre companies.
